Fall Home Tour {Amy’s House}

I have been sprucing up my home for fall; it seems in the blog-world the arrival of autumn is just behind Christmas when it comes to home decorating. Adding coziness and neutrals just seems to be the right thing to do around the house at this time of year.

There isn’t much space to decorate in our foyer, so we keep our front hall is fairly simple. I just added some stacks of vintage art books and silhouettes of my boys, it is hard to believe they were ever that little!

Since most of my living room decor is neutral all year round,  all I have to do at this time of year is swap out decorative pillows and add back in our warmer throws.   I used quite a few copper and gold accents this year. I love the warmth they give the room; most of them were found at HomeGoods.

All my bright navy accent pillows along with the pops of blue have been retired for the winter. I had these damask pillow covers from our last home, their neutral tones seemed perfect for this time of year so they have reappeared. Lesson learned about not purging everything, you never know when something may work in your decor again–which probably explains why my store room is entirely too full!

You can see our kitchen directly behind the couch, I’ll show you that space in just a minute.

A few years ago I created a Gallery Wall under our stairs, every once in a while I switch out some of the pictures {again, my kids have really grown since some of these were taken} but mostly I just tweak the decor on the foyer table for each season. This console table seems to be a must-have on decor blogs and especially on Instagram, if you don’t have one you might want to get one!

The vintage dairy crate was a fortunate curbside find near our vacation home in Maine, though MAGNOLIA Home {of Fixer Upper fame} has one that is a great find. The garden stool was bright green when I bought it and cost less then $20, a little spray paint made a huge difference. It floats from room to room as either extra seating, a drink table, or just to decorate.

Around the corner from this hallway is our dining room.  I added black and white and gold accents in here this year, this is my hardest room to photograph thanks to the huge trees outside the window that block the light so I admit I like the room much better in person than it seems to look in these pictures.

You can see our built-in shelves {from IKEA bookcases!} just across the hall.

Our kitchen and breakfast room also got a few fall touches. I don’t think I have taken any photos in here since our makeover finished last year at this time {see all about our kitchen makeover here}, probably because it is rarely clean enough to show off 🙂

We still hope to eventually complete the second phase of our kitchen makeover including new counters, lighting and redoing the cabinet wall over the range, we might start it this coming spring.

And of course, my favorite DIY Stained Shelves got all spruced up for fall. They always get a seasonal update, my favorite part of having them in the niche in our kitchen is being able to display all sorts of fun things.

To fill the shelves at this time of year, I mix antique and vintage finds, seasonal printables and accessories from stores like HomeGoods.

Our breakfast room is right off the kitchen, I just added a few accents on the table in here. The copper Moscow Mule mugs add such a pretty touch. You can see how I made the vintage bird prints here.

And last but not least are a few fall touches in our mudroom. This space gets a ton of action, but it’s visible to the kitchen so it’s also nice to have some pretty things in the space to look at. Once we get some real cold weather the hooks will be full of coats but for now a few light jackets and some decorations fill up the space.

I admit that the outside of my house hasn’t been given the full Fall decorating treatment yet. We have some projects going on so that may or may not happen this year, but I’ll leave you with one of my favorite photos {and one of our most popular Instagrams ever} of my porch last year just for fun!

Easy, natural Fall front door and porch decor

That is all! Now, I am going to relax and enjoy it before it is time to start decorating for Christmas–that is right around the corner!

I really like your “Gather” doormat. Would you mi d telling where you found it?
    Thank you!

  2. Your home is beautiful. I love a console table, however, it’s important to me to buy furniture that is made in USA. I like your table, but it’s made in Vietnam. I dont buy made in China, either.

    • Hi Carol, I totally understand your point. We do try to buy things that are made in the USA as well. Thanks for pointing that out, unfortunately sometimes inexpensive furniture comes from overseas {thus the premise of the World Market store}. For some people that is all their budget will allow, but I completely appreciate your loyalty to US products!

      Best,
      Amy

  3. You have a lovely home! A vacation home in Maine? I am soooo jealous! I lived in the Bangor area for 23 years; in Virginia now. Love your blog!

    • Hi Liz–I am in Virginia too now but you are right, Maine is so beautiful. How lucky you were to live there! Thanks for your kind words 🙂
      XO,
      Amy
