I spent way too much time staring at my rather blah living room trying to decide how I wanted to decorate the space once we settled in our new home. After awhile it hit me that I already had basics in place–a white sofa, a beige armchair, two french bergere chairs and a jute rug. Since I wasn’t going to start over with all new furniture, I decided I would just invest in some decor items that could be changed out seasonally. So while we’re wrapping up winter {and hoping to have signs of spring here very soon!} I thought I would share the room in its “winter” state. I have listed sources at the end of the post if you are curious.
The best part about this game plan is I don’t have to decide on any one color scheme for the room. I could put away the holiday reds {see those in my holiday home tour} and move into some nice whites and grays for winter. After I painted the dark brick on my fireplace and made over the TV console it all worked together nicely during the colder winter months.
I updated this console recently to downplay the 90’s beadboard, you can see that HERE.
I am just beginning to update the room for spring–shopping for it has been fun and I’ll share that soon. In the meantime, I hear parts of the country are warming up today, so if you are lucky enough to live in those areas please enjoy it for me. We still have entirely too much snow on the ground here in Virginia for my taste!
