Back from Hibernation

Hi all, I am back from my winter hibernation. After some much needed R & R, the warmer weather has definitely gotten me motivate to begin some spring cleaning, yard work and of course decorating.  I promise to share all my fresh spring projects here at 11 Magnolia Lane.

As you know I started working on my boys bathroom last month and I am thrilled to share….it is finally complete (well almost:)
I still need to frost their medicine cabinet mirror and possibly hang a new light fixture.   I couldn’t wait a day longer so I wanted to share my “almost complete” boys nautical bathroom.

These adorable metal stars came from my sister-in-law Holly.  They were the perfect accent for that navy blue wall.

The boy’s grandfather is a ferry boat captain in Hilton Head, S.C.  It really makes their room extra special and very nautical.

I love this basket from Home Goods!!

I trimmed out the mirror with white molding- it made a huge difference.  You can see the before shot on my Nautical Valance post.

Happy sailing!

  2. Adorable! Did you get the rug at walmart? I have been eye-ing their polka dotted rugs for about a month now…. Can’t get over how it goes so well in your nautical theme! Love it!

    Visiting from Serenity Now….

I did get that rug from Walmart… it was on sale too!
I love the dots although I will admit my heart was stuck on a navy and white stripped rug… no luck finding one.

I saw the dots and really wanted to post about their room so I purchased it on a whim… it really did work out well for their bathroom and it a good deal.

That is such an awesome little boys bathroom! I love the red, white, and blue! Stopping by from Serenity Now:)

  4. The white molding on that mirror really makes it pop on the blue wall! I love the cute red basket on the counter top too. This is a great theme bathroom without being over the top. Great work!

Thanks so much for joining my Weekend Bloggy Reading party. :) Have fun making a new blog friend or two, and I hope you’ll visit me at Serenity Now again soon! :)

Thank you so much for your note. The molding was such a simple fix to those large builder grade mirrors you see in every house here in VA. I love the impact with the molding, especially with the dark walls. That color had me panicked for a good week but now I love it.

Thanks and have a great weekend!!

This looks fabulous! I think the molding around the mirror is the perfect finishing touch. Big impact from a small change. The rolled up towels in the basket are a great touch also.

I know this was done almost a year and a half ago…but I just love it. How did you do the molding around the mirror? That’s a brilliant idea!! I love everything you did and the wall color!

      Hi Tracy-
Thanks for stopping by and checking out some of our older posts. That bath was a fun project and I cannot believe it was over 1.5 years ago. Time is sure flying by.
I simply covered the mirror with molding and glue. Easy project and major impact. Thanks for stopping by!
